Opens "Andersen", a Denmark-styled bakery/restaurant in Hiroshima, introducing the first self-service style bakery in Japan.

Andersen Aoyama opens in Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo, with the catch phrase "A slice of Copenhagen arrives in Aoyama-Dori".
October 1978
Expansion and improvement of Andersen Hiroshima is done, creating facilities including shopping floors, restaurants and party venues, to further promote the idea of a bread-eating lifestyle.

The "Andersen Fairy Tale Award" is established in commemoration of its 35th anniversary.

Andersen Hiroshima holds its renewal opening as the "Town of Hygge".

Then Vice-president Seiichi Takaki is appointed as the new honorary consul for the Kingdom of Denmark.

Andersen Hiroshima holds its renewal opening with the concept of "the Bakery and more: Hyggelig Life Starting with Bread", and stone ovens are installed.

Cherry trees are planted at Denmark's Gavnø castle and a memorial stone for the founder, Shunsuke Takaki, is installed.

Participation in the "HCA2005", an event commemorating the 200th anniversary of the fairy tales author H.C. Andersen's birth; Then President Seiichi Takaki is appointed as Japan's Hans Christian Andersen Ambassador.
