A bakery is opened in Hijiyama Honmachi in Hiroshima by Shunsuke Takaki, his wife Akiko and two other staff members.
December 1951

"Takaki's Bread" Co., Ltd. is established.
November 1952

"Bread Hall" is established in Hiroshima's Hon-dori.
September 1959

Founder Shunsuke Takaki (then president) visits Europe for the first time and has a dramatic encounter with the Danish pastry.
March 1961

The Senogawa Factory (presently the Hiroshima factory) is completed in Senogawa-cho of Hiroshima's Aki-gun (presently Nakano-higashi, Aki-ku, Hiroshima).

Corporate name is changed to TAKAKI BAKERY Co., Ltd.

Danish pastries go on sale.

"Andersen", a food complex with a Danish-inspired bakery and restaurant is opened in Hiroshima. The first self-service bakery is introduced to Japan.

The Chiyoda factory, specializing in producing frozen bread dough, is completed in Chiyoda-cho, Yamagata-gun, Hiroshima (presently Kitahiroshima-cho).

Andersen Aoyama opens in Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo, with the catch phrase "A slice of Copenhagen arrives in Aoyama-Dori".

The Okayama factory is completed in Kamogata-cho, Asaguchi-gun, Okayama (presently Kamogata-cho, Asakuchi-shi), and the bake-off shop franchise starts.

The "Little Mermaid" bakeries, providing freshly-baked bread, start up in the Hiroshima region. Franchising shops in the Tokyo region using the bake-off system are also established.

Public patents are acquired for the production of frozen bread.

H.M. Queen Margrethe II and H.R.H. Prince Henrik visit Andersen Hiroshima from the Kingdom of Denmark.

The "Andersen's Fairy Tale Award" is established in commemoration of its 35th anniversary.

Central factory at Diamond Foods in America is completed.

The AIB Food Safety training/auditing system is introduced to the Hiroshima and Chiyoda factories of the Takaki Bakery.

Andersen Hiroshima undergoes a renewal opening with the concept of "the Bakery and more: Hyggelig Life Starting with Bread", and stone ovens are installed.

ANDERSEN Co., Ltd. starts business collaborations with chocolatier Jean-Paul Hėvin. JEAN-PAUL HÉVIN JAPON is established, and the JEAN-PAUL HÉVIN flagship store opens in Shinjuku Isetan.

America's Diamond Food is renamed Andersen Bakery.

A holding corporation system is introduced, and the corporation is reorganized into five companies--ANDERSEN Co., Ltd., ANDERSEN BAKERY PARTNERS Co., Ltd., TAKAKI BAKERY Co., Ltd., ANDERSEN SERVICE Co., Ltd., and Andersen Institute of Bread & Life Co., Ltd.

AIB audits take place for the first time ever in Japan's retail bakeries at some branches of Andersen, Little Mermaid and Cafe Danmark.

The Okayama factory of the Takaki Bakery is completed, equipped with stone ovens, to bring European craftsmanship to Japan.

The ANDERSEN FARM Co., Ltd. is established, undertaking farming for a richer bread-eating lifestyle.

The Tsukuba factory of the Takaki Bakery, specializing in stone-oven baked bread, is completed along with the Tsukuba Retail Support Center.

The bread of Green Bread in the Andersen Shinjuku Isetan branch and the Takaki Bakery Tsukuba factory both receive JAS organic certification.
